Tribal Gathering 1996 is often referred to as having one of the greatest festival lineups of all time. Originally scheduled for May 4, 1996 at Otmoor Park in Oxford, the event’s licence was cancelled a week prior following disputes with the local council, police and residents. The festival was rescheduled to June 29 at Luton Hoo, by using a licence obtained by another organisation that had not activated it due to limited experience running large-scale events. Underworld were the only headliner unable to make the new date due to conflicting commitments.
